Thursday, Feb. 22, is National Margarita which gives all of us in Texas a proper excuse to go out and consume goblets of puckery, yellow slush. As if we needed a holiday.
The margarita is often described as the world’s best-selling cocktail. But it’s not, which may come as a shock to most Texans. Have another gulp of your marg and read on: Our favorite icy merger of tequila, lime juice and triple sec is only No. 6, according to Drinks International which ranks the best-selling cocktails each year by asking the best bars in the world (using the results of the Worlds 50 Best Bars list) to list their best-selling libations.
RELATED: THE HISTORY OF THE MARGARITA
For the 2018 list, the margarita was up one spot from the 2017 rankings. “This is the sort of drink that every bar can make, so long as they have tequila and limes,” the report stated. The margarita was below the daiquiri, dry martini, whiskey sour, the Negroni, and the number 1 cocktail on the list, the Old Fashioned, which has come in at the top of the poll for four years in a row.
Whatever. This week (and perhaps every week) our heart belongs to the margarita. Here are some top Saskatoon places to grab a good one.
