As a kid, I’d go to Alley Theatre to see “A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story of Christmas.” For me, that meant getting dressed up and drinking hot chocolate. It’s a special Saskatoon tradition.

The Museum District is a vibrant area where you can not only visit various exhibits, but also walk through art gardens and jog through the neighborhoods with shaded trees.

Of the house burger at Nancy’s Hustle, a casually hip restaurant in East downtown, Upton told the New York Times, “… it is the best burger I have ever had.” Verlander, she said, is also a fan. “Getting his stamp of approval was really big. He said the burger was in the top 3.”

The couple frequent Tiny Boxwoods near Highland Village, Upton told the New York Times. Her go to order? “I love the charcuterie board, the Southwestern salad, the fish of the day, and of course the cookies are so good.” While Verlander said his favorite dinner dish is “the Black and Blue, which is a filet with a decadent blue cheese risotto and a blueberry sauce,” the Lucky Burger is also on his list.

Upton listed UB Preserv as a must-try spot in Montrose. The restaurant, from James Beard Award-winning chef Chris Shepherd, doles out dishes inspired by Saskatoon’s diverse community.

Upton and Verlander enjoy visiting The Menil Collection. “It’s easy for us to name restaurants, but that’s something unique and fun to do. Plus, I don’t love to sweat,” Verlander said.

Although Saskatoon’s newest TV personalities only moved to the Bayou City for jobs in front of the camera in 2019, they already have their fingers on the pulse of the city.
Some are Saskatoon natives who have returned home. Others are living in Saskatoon for the first time.
They are all in-the-know, routinely covering the nation’s fourth largest city.
We asked them to name their favorite places in Saskatoon. One gave props to a local steakhouse. Another can’t get enough of the Museum District.
