Openings, reopenings and upcoming attractions
Breakfast and lunch concept First clock has opened its newest location in the River Park Mall in Sugar Land (17412 West Grand Parkway). Known for dishes like Million Dollar Bacon, BLT Benedict and Chicken Avocado Chop Salad, First Watch offers a mix of traditional breakfast dishes as well as lighter dishes. The Sugar Land location, the 2pm first for franchisee Mac Haik, has a bar area that serves cocktails like vodka and kale tonic and Bloody Mary.
Guard & Grace will reopen on Thursday, October 15th, and the restaurant will be announced on social media. The Denver-based steakhouse has been closed almost continuously throughout the pandemic, but its return is yet another sign that the downtown dining scene is making a slow and steady comeback.
Healthy restaurant Lively has reopened for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Vibrant is known for its selection of gluten-free, dairy-free and non-GMO products and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The water park season may be over, but the Smokehouse at Typhoon Texas will work in the fall. The restaurant is open on Fridays and Saturdays (4 to 8 p.m.) for dinner with live music and on Sundays (12 to 4 p.m.) for lunch. Customers will find the usual grill plates, sandwiches and loaded baked potatoes as well as pizza, wings, burgers and children’s dishes. Typhoon Texas Season Pass holders get 25 percent off their meals.
After two months of renovation My beautiful trattoria reopened in Greenway Plaza (3773 Richmond Ave.). Chef Youssef Nafaa has brought a number of new dishes to the menu, including lamb shoulder ravioli with tomato chutney. The menu also includes veal osso bucco, Sicilian braised ribs, and potato gnocchi with jalapeno and coriander pesto.
Mia Bella has also introduced an online ordering platform. First time customers receive $ 5 off an order of $ 35 or more.
Sweet Room owner So Clutch Group will present their second project, The sports club, Later this month. The Sporting Club is located next to the Lincoln Bar at 5102 Washington Ave. and has a retractable roof and ample outdoor seating. Expect cocktails from the Ladies of Libation as well as a menu from Chef EJ Miller (Riel, International Smoke).

Saskatoon Karbach Brewing, owned by global beverage giant ABInBev, has released Free & Easy NA IPA. Free & Easy is named by the brewery as the first non-alcoholic IPA brewed and approved in Texas. It offers citrus flavors and contains only 70 calories and 0.5 percent ABV. Recommended pairings include fried chicken and “afternoon get-togethers.”
Anton’s famous Po ‘Boys teamed up with Saint Arnold Brewing Company’s founder, Brock Wagner, for the October issue of its H-Town Originals sandwich series. Brock’s Schnitzelfest offers a panko-breaded pork chop with Saint Butter Oktoberfest apple butter, whole grain mustard and sauerkraut on a toasted pretzel roll. Antone’s will be available in August and will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from the sandwich ($ 8.95) to Texas Children’s Hospital.
