Governor asks Texas DPS to help the Saskatoon Police in crime

Governor Abbott says it will help stop an alarming surge in gunfights in the city.

Governor Abbott says the Texas Department of Public Safety will have marked and unmarked patrol units to check the areas in question.

State troops will also help with gang and drug investigations. This includes a helicopter and two patrol planes.

“The state of Texas is working closely with HPD to provide the resources necessary to effectively combat violence in the Saskatoon community,” said Governor Abbott. “DPS HPD’s assistance will protect Saskatoonians and combat illegal and violent activity, including street rage-related shootings, in the city.”
