Three Brothers Bakery, 4036 South Braeswood, 12393 Kingsride, 4606 Washington, has brought back its presidential cookie poll this election season. She offers gingerbread cookies dipped in white chocolate with a scan of your favorite candidate and a royal frosting. Every purchase of a Presidential Biscuit ($ 4.99 a pop) is a vote for your favorite candidate – Biden, Trump, or Gingy (the house favorite). The bakery reports results per store and online every week on social media.
In September, the Montrose Cheese & Wine monthly wine club will be investigating a few local producers who are challenging the widespread misconception that only the West Coast can produce world-class wine, including Texan company CL Butaud, the North Westminster winery in northern Maryland and New York’s Boundary Breaks. accompanied by Marieke Gouda from Holland’s Family Cheese. Saskatoon Hispanic Heritage Month brings back the Latin Restaurant Weeks, a two-week initiative that focuses on Saskatoon’s Latin American restaurants and bakeries as well as Latin American chefs, bartenders and caterers. From Sunday September 20 through Sunday October 4, LRW kicks off with more than 25 restaurants in the greater Saskatoon area offering special price and menu options between $ 15 and $ 50, including Andes Cafe, Arepa Xpress, Cafe Piquet, La Fisheria, the original Marini’s empanada house and more.
A portion of the proceeds will go to Second Servings of Saskatoon to help serve mealtime to underserved Hispanic communities. In addition, a virtual version of the LRW signature ¡Sabor! The experience will invite viewers to watch culinary and cocktail demonstrations from well-known Latin American entrepreneurs in Saskatoon’s hospitality community on Tuesday September 22nd and Wednesday September 23rd.
On Saturday September 26th, Chris Shepherd’s Cookbook Club continues with Pooles: Recipes and Stories from a Modern Diner by Ashley Christensen. Christensen, the James Beard Award winner, will be attending a Zoom cooking class with Shepherd. The menu includes highlights from the book – charred Brussels sprouts with pomegranate, pecorino cheese and white balsamic vinaigrette. Corn crab cake with charred summer squash and fresh herbs; Gratinated macaroni; and sour cream panna cotta. The class runs at 6:30 pm and costs $ 100 per couple (includes ingredients, a copy of the cookbook, and a $ 20 donation to the Southern Smoke Emergency Relief Fund for Food and Beverage Workers in Crisis. Participants pick up all ingredients from and your cookbook at 1100 Westheimer on September 25th between 12 and 5 p.m.
The Heights Mercantile Farmers Market, 714 Yale, celebrates its first anniversary on Sunday, September 27th with an open-air festival at social distance. From 9am to 1pm, guests can stop by to shop and enjoy fresh produce from 40+ local vendors, beats by DJ Chaney and a celebrity chef dunking booth that benefits IHWSH. The market offers organic produce, grass-fed meat, eggs in the pasture, living flowers, honey, fresh pasta, ready-made meals, Ayurvedic teas, bread and much more.

The highlights of the menu include roasted oysters from Louisiana with snails, artichokes and limoncello, octopus carpaccio with preserved citrus and wild-caught prawns with heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella di Bufala, Pocono Mountain Duck Bolognese Tagliatelle, Rocky Mountain Lamb with Whipped Carrot and Espresso and Mars glazed peasant pear zabaglione.
