Mom and son graduated from the College of Saskatoon collectively

HOUSTON – A woman and her son will graduate from the University of Saskatoon – Downtown together on Saturday.

Son Anthony Taylor was surprised by his mother Renita Gray at a family gathering on Thanksgiving Day when he handed out invitations to his virtual start from UHD’s Marilyn Davies College of Business.

Gray surprised the family by producing her own invitations for graduation.

“She started handing out invitations for her graduation ceremony,” said Taylor, who will receive his Masters of Business Administration this weekend. “I had no idea she was even enrolled in a university.”

“I kept it a secret,” said Gray. “It was a perfect surprise and an unforgettable vacation moment.”

Taylor said he was very proud of his mother and all the sacrifices she made and called her an inspiration.

“I’m incredibly proud of my mother,” he said. “She has made countless sacrifices and continues to do so. She is an inspiration to me. She is proof that anything is possible if you give it up. “

Gray said she needed to take a break from graduation to focus on her career and family. When she got back to college, she found UHD. She said it was closer to her job – working for the city of Saskatoon.

“We’ll be together,” said Gray. “It went perfectly, and I can’t think of a better way to graduate than with my son by my side.”
