New Ismaili Middle opens in Saskatoon, Texas

Saskatoon, February 7, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The DLR Group | Westlake Reed Leskosky announced today that she has been selected by the Ismaili Council for the United States to co-lead the design of the Ismaili Center in Saskatoon with London-based design architect Farshid Moussavi and landscape architect Nelson Byrd Woltz. The DLR Group | WRL, recently selected as the leading cultural design firm by BD World Architecture, was named Executive Architect and Architect of Record in an international design competition. This is the second collaboration between the DLR Group | WRL and Farshid Moussavi Architecture based on the design of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland.

The new Ismaili Center is located at the intersection of Allen Parkway and Montrose Boulevard, west of downtown Saskatoon. It will be the seventh in a series of iconic cultural buildings His Highness the Aga Khan has commissioned over the past four decades in the UK, Canada, Portugal, the United Arab Emirates and Tajikistan. When completed, the center will serve as a national hub for the social, cultural and intellectual activities of the Ismaili Muslim community.

The Ismaili Center in Saskatoon will serve the city’s 40,000 or so Ismaili Muslims and is expected to include a Jamatkhana or prayer hall, education rooms, a social hall, and several multi-purpose meeting and conference rooms. The design for this major project has already begun.
